Job Description

Field Service Engineer – Heavy Plant Machinery (Excavators & Wheel Loaders)
Location: Bristol (Field-based)
Pay: £20.16/hour + overtime + van + full benefits
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm (40 hours/week)

We’re working with a well-established and rapidly growing OEM dealer in the construction equipment sector. They are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their field team, focusing on the service and repair of heavy plant machinery including excavators and wheel loaders.
This is a full-time, 100% field-based role offering door-to-door pay, no out-of-hours callouts, and minimal weekend work. It’s an ideal opportunity for someone with strong technical skills looking for a stable, well-supported position with room for progression.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and scheduled maintenance on a wide range of heavy plant machinery
  • Attend customer and dealer sites across the Bristol region, including quarries and civil engineering projects
  • Commission new machines, complete testing, and handovers
  • Accurately complete service reports, job cards, and warranty documentation
  • Provide product feedback to support continuous improvement
  • Maintain a professional and customer-focused presence in the field
Territory & Travel
  • Covering Bristol and surrounding areas
  • Door-to-door role with occasional overnight stays as required (hotels arranged by admin team)
  • Occasional travel for product training in Europe (e.g., Poland)
Pay & Benefits

  • Overtime at time and a half (£30.24/hour) weekdays and weekends

What We’re Looking For
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance (or equivalent)
  • Experience with heavy plant equipment (especially excavators and wheel loaders up to 95T)
  • Strong diagnostic, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical skills
  • Comfortable working independently in the field
  • Customer-oriented with good communication and problem-solving ability
  • Quarry Passport is advantageous (support can be provided to obtain one)
  • Experience with electric plant machinery is a bonus
Equipment Exposure
  • Excavators: 9T to 95T (including electric models)
  • Wheel Loaders: Full range from compact to heavy-duty
  • Potential future exposure to telehandlers and access platforms
