This role is that of technical authority with acknowledged depth of expertise, including the assessment and appropriate management of risk. The role focuses on driving practice improvement across the service through direct development of others and by actively participating in process mapping, procedure specification, and strategy development. The role may involve dealing with the most complex cases, partly to maintain credibility and experience in the field. Assistant Team Manager and Principal Social Worker roles should be aligned to the Advanced Practitioner core job type.
