Job Description
Ready to build real Early Years experience while supporting children with additional needs?
Help pupils feel safe, focused and ready to learn through calm routines and purposeful play.
*** EYFS Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** £80 - £100 per day
*** ‘Good’ primary school, Hodge Hill
*** 1:1 and small group support for SEN children in EYFS
What you’ll do:
Provide steady 1:1 and small-group support in Nursery and Reception. Break activities into simple steps, use visual timetables and now/next prompts, and scaffold transitions so the day feels predictable. Lead short adult-led tasks in early phonics, number, fine-motor and language, then capture brief observations so next actions are clear for the class teacher and SENCO.
About you:
Calm, organised and clear in your communication. You follow support plans, spot triggers early, and adjust your approach without fuss so children can re-engage quickly.
Requirements
- Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
- Communication – Confident written and spoken English.
- Enhanced DBS – Held already or willingness to obtain.
- Desire to work in education/with children – Strong interest in EYFS, SEN and pupil wellbeing.
- Experience working with children – Nursery, mentoring, tutoring or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
The School:
This ‘Good’ two-form entry primary in Hodge Hill runs calm, consistent EYFS routines from drop-off to home time. Reception and Nursery are well resourced with zoned indoor and outdoor areas, high-quality continuous provision and a clear phonics programme with daily practice. Staff plan together and share simple observation sheets, language prompts and ready-made activity cards so you can deliver quickly without rebuilding resources. Inclusion is embedded: the SEN team runs regular plan–do–review cycles, keeps visual supports and sensory tools close by, and provides access to regulation spaces when a child needs a reset. New colleagues receive a structured induction, weekly bite-size CPD and short coaching drop-ins with precise, usable next moves. You get the conditions to make impact fast and build a strong portfolio for teacher training or Educational Psychology routes.
How to Apply
Email your CV and include your availability and DBS status. Add two referees if you can. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief call and an in-school observation. Early applications are encouraged, as the school may appoint before the closing date.
Due to the volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
