Graduate English Teaching Assistant
 
Are you an English graduate looking to gain primary classroom experience before starting teacher training?
 
Could you use your strengths in reading and writing to lift progress across the KS1/KS2 curriculum?

*** £80 - £100 per day
*** 2-form entry primary school, Ladywood
*** 1:1 and small group support across the national curriculum
 
The Role:
As a Graduate English Teaching Assistant, you’ll boost literacy across KS1 and KS2 through guided reading, phonics, SPaG and writing workshops. You’ll run short, focused interventions, provide 1:1 support, and help pupils prepare for assessments. You’ll also assist with resources, track simple progress notes, and feedback to class teachers.
 
The Candidate:
You’ll hold a degree (English or related preferred), communicate clearly, and build positive relationships with children. You’re organised, calm under pressure, and motivated to develop towards teacher training.
 
Requirements
• Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
• Communication – Clear, confident verbal and written communication.
• Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in primary education and pupil progress.
• Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
