Job Description

SEN Graduate Learning Mentor

Are you looking to build your experience supporting young people with additional needs in a secondary school setting?

*** SEN Learning Mentor
*** September 2025 to July 2026
*** £80 - £100 per day
*** ‘Good’ secondary school, Walsall
*** 1:1 support across KS4 to a student in Year 10

The Role
This SEN Learning Mentor role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 10 student with additional needs. You’ll work closely with the SENCo and teaching staff to ensure the student is fully supported across subjects, helping them to stay engaged, manage their emotions, and make academic progress. The role may include adapting resources, reinforcing key concepts, and helping with social and emotional regulation. Your input will be vital in supporting their journey towards GCSEs.

The Candidate
The school is looking for someone who is reliable, compassionate, and able to build a positive working relationship with teenagers. Previous experience working with young people with SEND—especially in a mentoring, coaching, or classroom support role—would be an advantage. A background in education, psychology, youth work, or social care is welcome. Strong communication skills, resilience, and a calm, consistent presence are essential.

The School
This Walsall-based secondary school is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and is known for its inclusive culture and supportive staff team. Leaders have a clear focus on SEND provision and student wellbeing. Staff are well supported, with access to training and mentoring throughout the year. You’ll be joining a school that values every learner and gives staff the tools they need to make a real difference.

Due to the number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
