Residential Support Worker - Wandsworth - September 2025 Start 
Pertemps Education is recruiting on behalf of a specialist residential provision for deaf students at a deaf school in Wandsworth. The school is seeking a Residential Support Worker to join their dedicated care team from September 2025. 
 
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the educational, emotional, and social development of deaf children and young people in a residential setting. The successful candidate will work as part of a close-knit team to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for pupils during the school week. 
 
Location: Wandsworth 
Start Date: September 2025 
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (39 weeks including INSETs) 
Hours: 38.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, including sleep-in duties) 
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience 
 
About the Role: 
  • Promote the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual wellbeing of pupils within the residential setting 
  • Assist students in developing independence and life skills through structured routines and activities 
  • Support students with personal care, daily routines, behaviour, and communication 
  • Plan and participate in after-school activities and recreational outings 
  • Carry out sleep-in duties and be on-call during the night on a rota basis 
  • Work collaboratively with the residential team, teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals 
  • Monitor and record student progress and contribute to care plans and reports 
  • Support the development of personalised strategies for students with diverse needs 
 
The Ideal Candidate Will: 
  • Have previous experience as a Residential Support Worker or similar role, ideally in a school or care setting 
  • Have experience working with children or young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities 
  • Demonstrate understanding of the needs of deaf learners and willingness to use/sign communication systems 
  • Be willing to work flexibly, including evenings and sleep-ins 
  • Be calm, compassionate, and confident in managing challenging behaviours when they arise 
  • Hold or be willing to work towards a Level 3 qualification in residential childcare or health and social care 
  • Be committed to safeguarding, teamwork, and creating a positive, inclusive environment
