Teaching Assistant – SEND School – Birmingham
A welcoming special school in Birmingham is seeking an experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistant for a long-term opportunity supporting children with Autism and Moderate Learning Difficulties. This is a rewarding role for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping pupils access learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential in a supportive specialist setting.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with individual pupils on a 1-2-1 basis, providing tailored support throughout the school day. You will be part of a collaborative team that values patience, consistency and positive relationships.

The Role:
  • Providing 1-2-1 support for children with Autism and Moderate Learning Difficulties
  • Supporting pupils with learning activities and classroom engagement
  • Helping to manage behaviour using positive and consistent strategies
  • Assisting with communication, social skills and emotional regulation
  • Working closely with teachers and SEND staff to follow individual support plans
  • Supporting pupils’ independence and confidence throughout the school day
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant
  • Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly Autism and MLD
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • The ability to follow structured routines and individual learning plans
