Job Description
An SEMH school in Birmingham is seeking an experienced and resilient QTS English Teacher to teach small classes of students who have faced barriers to education. This role is ideal for an English Teacher who thrives in a structured environment and is committed to supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible English lessons to students working at varying ability levels. You will be supported by a strong leadership team and experienced support staff, allowing you to focus on high-quality teaching and positive relationships.
Job Role:
- Teaching English to small classes of students with SEMH needs
- Planning and delivering differentiated English lessons
- Supporting students with literacy, communication, and confidence
- Managing behaviour effectively using consistent strategies
- Working closely with pastoral and support teams
- Tracking progress and adapting teaching to meet individual needs
- QTS and experience teaching English up to GCSE
- Experience working with SEMH students, PRU, or alternative provision (desirable)
- Strong classroom management skills
- A calm, consistent, and relationship-focused approach
