Job Description
Are you an English Teacher who thrives in a nurturing, supportive SEN environment? This welcoming special school in Birmingham is looking for an enthusiastic English Teacher to join a small, dedicated team of core subject specialists. As an English Teacher, you will be teaching small classes of children with Autism and MLD, delivering creative and accessible lessons that inspire confidence, independence, and a love of learning.
This role is ideal for an English Teacher who values relationship-building, patience, and personalised learning. You’ll be part of a friendly team, benefit from strong leadership, and enjoy the support of experienced Teaching Assistants who help create a calm, structured learning atmosphere. The school is committed to ensuring every English Teacher has the tools they need to make a real impact.
Job Role:
- Delivering engaging English lessons to small classes of pupils with Autism and MLD.
- Adapting teaching to meet a wide range of learning needs.
- Working collaboratively with a caring and experienced team of staff.
- Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Supporting pupils’ communication, confidence, and literacy development.
- Contributing to the wider school community as a dedicated English Teacher.
- Qualified Teacher Status – essential for this English Teacher role.
- A passion for SEN education and a commitment to pupil-centred teaching.
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
- Experience working with Autism, MLD or SEND (desirable but not essential)
- A positive attitude and a willingness to grow and develop as an English Teacher.
