Job Description
Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people who have faced barriers to learning? This fantastic SEMH school in Walsall is seeking a dedicated and resilient HLTA to join their supportive and dynamic team. You will play a key role in providing academic, social, and emotional support for students, helping them to re-engage with education and reach their full potential.This is a rewarding opportunity for a confident practitioner who can build strong relationships, deliver engaging small-group and 1-2-1 interventions, and support teachers in delivering a varied and creative curriculum.
Job Role:
- Supporting students with SEMH needs across the school, delivering tailored interventions and classroom support.
- Leading small group sessions and occasionally covering lessons in the absence of a teacher.
- Working closely with the SENCO, teachers, and pastoral team to provide holistic support for each student.
- Promoting positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing within the classroom.
- Assisting in developing resources and strategies to support learning and emotional regulation.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with students and helping them to develop confidence and resilience.
- HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience supporting students with SEMH or additional learning needs.
- Confidence in delivering lessons or interventions in the teacher’s absence.
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to behaviour management.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with a genuine commitment to supporting young people.
