Job Description
An Alternative Provision in Solihull is looking to appoint a passionate and resilient SEMH Teacher to lead a Year 7 class. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated teacher who is committed to supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them thrive in their learning journey.
As the SEMH Teacher for this Year 7 group, you will deliver a broad and balanced curriculum to a small class of pupils who may present with challenging behaviours and barriers to learning. You will be supported by a skilled team of teaching assistants and a strong leadership team who are committed to providing the best outcomes for every child.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering creative, engaging lessons for a Year 7 SEMH class
- Using effective behaviour management strategies to create a calm and safe environment
- Building strong, positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress
- Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, parents, and external agencies
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, confidence building, and social development
- Ensuring learning is personalised and accessible for every student
- QTS and experience teaching in an SEMH or alternative provision setting
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Creativity, resilience, and flexibility in teaching approaches
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for making a difference to the lives of young people
