Pertemps is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Westminster City Council, who are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join their Adult Social Care team.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a direct impact in supporting Westminster residents with complex needs. You will play a vital role in enabling people to live safely and independently in their homes through comprehensive functional assessments, specialist equipment provision, and major adaptations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a diverse and complex caseload, supporting individuals with physical, cognitive, and environmental challenges.
  • Carry out home visits to assess functional needs, environmental risks, and suitability for adaptations or equipment.
  • Complete manual handling assessments and develop safe handling plans involving hoists, slings, and transfer aids.
  • Prescribe and oversee major home adaptations (e.g., level access showers, stairlifts, ramps, through-floor lifts) in collaboration with housing and DFG teams.
  • Provide clinical reasoning and justification for high-cost equipment and adaptations, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.
  • Liaise with contractors, surveyors, housing officers, and other partners to ensure safe and effective delivery of adaptations.
  • Support timely hospital discharge and avoidance by ensuring provision of essential equipment and adaptations.
  • Maintain accurate, professional documentation, contributing to safeguarding enquiries, legal reports, and funding panels.
  • Offer peer support and supervision to junior staff, championing safe practice and reflective learning.
  • Act as a key contact for service users, offering advice, advocacy, and reassurance throughout the adaptation process.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Enhanced DBS (required before starting).
  • Proven experience in a local authority setting, working with vulnerable adults.
  • In-depth knowledge of equipment provision, minor and major adaptations, and relevant legislation.
