Senior Accountant – Maidstone, Kent

Sheridan Maine is delighted to be working with a well-established accountancy practice based in Maidstone, Kent to recruit an experienced Senior Accountant.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified accountant to join a reputable practice, managing a varied client portfolio and taking ownership of accounts preparation, tax, and advisory work.

The Role – Senior Accountant:

• Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
• Complete corporation tax returns and personal tax computations
• Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as a key point of contact
• Review and support junior staff with bookkeeping and accounts work
• Assist with VAT returns, management accounts, and compliance work
• Liaise with clients to provide proactive accounting and advisory support
• Ensure work is completed in line with UK GAAP and relevant tax regulations

About You – Senior Accountant:

• ACA / ACCA qualified or part-qualified, or QBE with strong practice experience
• Proven background in a UK accountancy practice environment
• Strong experience in accounts preparation and tax compliance
• Confident managing your own client portfolio
• Good knowledge of corporation tax, VAT, and self-assessment tax
• Strong communication skills with a client-focused approach
• Ability to support and mentor junior team members
