Job Description

A rare opportunity for a talented Tax Manager to bring Tax in-house - leading tax strategy and risk management, and ensuring compliance across all areas.

This could be a full-time, or a part-time role of 4 or 4.5 days per week (pro rata).

The Role
This broad, and initially stand-alone role will expose you to all areas of Tax operations (including Corporate Tax, VAT, employment taxes, and CIS), and you will have a hands-on approach owning all Tax and Tax Strategy matters while also managing relationships with HMRC and external tax advisors. Responsibilities will include:

Tax Management and Compliance
• Oversee all tax-related matters, including Corporate Tax, VAT, Employment taxes, and CIS
• Develop and implement tax strategies aligned with the company's overall business objectives
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of all tax returns and payments
Risk Management
• Identify, assess, and manage tax risks across the organization
• Implement and maintain robust tax control frameworks
• Support the Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) certification process
Tax Computations and Analysis
• Perform tax computations and analysis
• Provide expert advice on tax implications of business decisions and transactions
• Identify tax planning opportunities and optimise the company's tax position
Relationship Management
• Manage relationships with HMRC, ensuring open and transparent communication
• Liaise with external tax advisors and manage their engagements
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, and operations teams
Leadership and Team Management
• Lead and develop in-house tax expertise
• Stay updated on tax legislation changes and ensure the team's knowledge remains current
• Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on tax matters
 
The Person:
  • Fully ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified with at least 3 years post qualification experience in tax, including in a senior role
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK tax legislation including Corporate Tax, VAT, Employment and CIS 
  • Passionate about Tax, with a mindset of continuous learning to stay updated on Tax laws and industry best practices.
  • Proven self-starter - given the breadth of the role you may not have all the answers but you’ll need strong foundational knowledge and a proactive approach.
  • Technically very strong but commercially aware & solution-orientated.
  • Strong communicator: you can convey complex tax concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Demonstrable ability to switch between the detail and bigger picture.
  • Experience with tax technology and automation tools would be highly desirable

Hybrid working is available with 2-3 days per week required in Wolverhampton. 
Base salary to £70,000p.a. with bonus, pension, PMI, 6x life cover and various other benefits.
