Job Overview:

We are currently working with an Injection Moulding company in the Birmingham area who seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Metrology Engineer to join their team. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs using Cameo software on LK equipment, ensuring all quality and measurement activities align with industry standards. This role plays a critical part in supporting new part introduction and continuous improvement efforts within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop efficient and accurate CMM programs tailored to specific customer requirements (CMM: LK, Cameo software).
  • Perform CMM setup, modular fixture configuration, and manage associated databases.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Dimensional Validation Approvals (DVAs) for CMM operations and production processes.
  • Conduct full Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIRs), capability studies, and provide constructive feedback on results.
  • Support the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation and submission.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date records, including timing plans related to projects and quality activities.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive quality standards (IATF 16949) and environmental standards (ISO 14001).
  • Conduct internal calibration of physical gauges, leak testing equipment, and Keyence IMD systems.
  • Oversee the management of externally calibrated equipment (e.g., CMMs, scales, resistance testers, slip blocks).
  • Perform Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility (R&R) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) studies.
  • Manage and update the calibration log and related documentation.
  • Program and maintain Keyence IMD systems and generate corresponding SOPs.
  • Collaborate with project teams on new part introductions, ensuring quality requirements are met.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
  • Fulfill additional duties and responsibilities as required by the business.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all company matters.
Experience Required:
  • Proven experience with CMM programming
  • Strong understanding of quality systems in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with PPAP, ISIR, MSA, and capability studies.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Commitment to health and safety best practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
