Job Description

Clinical Negligence Solicitor, Newly Qualified, Birmingham, £45,000+ (DOE) – A new opportunity for an ambitious solicitor to join an expanding defendant Clinical Negligence team. JOB REF: 0111.

THE ROLE:
• Handle a caseload of defendant clinical negligence claims from start to finish.
• Investigate claims rigorously to assess liability and causation, with a view to defending or resolving.
• Liaise with claimants, solicitors, clients, counsel, experts, and other stakeholders.
• Draft key legal documentation, including SLA reports, pleadings, and settlement advice.
• Ensure compliance with client care standards, service level agreements, and firm policies.
• Maintain accurate case diaries and action lists using Case Manager systems.
• Support broader team goals, including training junior members and contributing to business development initiatives.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
• A demonstrable interest or experience in clinical negligence work (preferably defendant side).
• Familiarity with NHS Resolution or private healthcare litigation is highly desirable.
• Strong legal and procedural knowledge, particularly in relation to CPR.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and drafting skills.
• A methodical and organised approach to caseload management.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Flexibility and resilience in managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
• A commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
