Grounds Operative – Full Time (40 hours per week)

About the role
As a Grounds Operative, you’ll be responsible for maintaining outdoor areas across our estates to a high standard. Working as part of our Estates team, you’ll help ensure our green spaces are tidy, safe, and enjoyable for residents.

This is a mobile role based mainly in the Bath area, so you’ll need to live within a reasonable commuting distance.

What you’ll be doing

• Carrying out general grounds maintenance (grass cutting, hedge trimming, weeding, leaf clearance)
• Using and maintaining equipment such as mowers, hedge cutters, and blowers
• Inspecting communal areas and reporting issues (e.g. damage, fly-tipping, safety concerns)
• Ensuring tools and equipment are kept in safe working order
• Following health and safety procedures at all times
• Communicating politely with customers and responding to queries
• Recording completed work using handheld devices
• Supporting seasonal and emergency tasks when required

What we’re looking for

• Experience in grounds maintenance or a similar outdoor role
• Good physical fitness and ability to work in all weather conditions
• Basic horticultural knowledge (weeding, planting, pruning)
• Understanding of health and safety practices
• Ability to work independently and manage your workload
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills
• Full UK manual driving licence (required)

Desirable

• Level 1 Horticulture qualification
• PA1 & PA6 pesticide certificates
• LANTRA training

Additional information

• 40 hours per week
• Based around Bath (mobile role)
• Shared van use (no individually assigned vehicle)
• Subject to a basic DBS check
