We are recruiting on behalf of a busy and well-established Southwest-based building contractor with a strong pipeline of work across a variety of sectors, including public and private sector projects, commercial, leisure and refurbishment schemes.

With multiple projects already on site and several more due to commence shortly, our client is looking to strengthen their commercial team with the appointment of an experienced Quantity Surveyor. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic and growing contractor and work on a diverse range of interesting projects.



The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the full range of commercial duties across live projects and tenders. You’ll manage subcontract procurement and accounts, monitor costs and progress, and ensure projects are delivered profitably and in line with client expectations.

Key responsibilities:

Procurement of subcontractors and materials.

Measurement, valuation, and agreement of works.

Preparation and submission of interim and final valuations.

Management of variations and change control.

Agreement of final accounts with subcontractors and clients.

Accurate reporting of costs and progress to the senior management team.



About You

We’re looking for a motivated and commercially astute professional with experience in main contracting and a track record of managing the financial aspects of construction projects effectively.

Essential skills and experience:

Main contracting experience in the UK construction sector.

Competent in cost analysis of subcontract packages from enquiry through to appointment.

Proven ability to manage subcontract accounts from initial valuation through to final account.

Ideally degree or HNC qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

Strong communication, negotiation, and numerical skills.

Proficient with IT and commercial management software.

Full UK driving licence.
