Principal Designer,  £30k - £60k DOE, Plymouth / Hybrid.

This position is open to candidates at all experience levels, from junior assistants to senior professionals, with responsibilities and compensation tailored to match individual experience and expertise.

A forward-thinking consultancy that delivers high-quality services across regulatory compliance, building surveying, and design are looking for a Principal Designer with a background in Design / Architecture.

The consultancy are rapidly growing, and looking for a versatile and motivated professional to join thier team. This role offers the opportunity to lead as a Principal Designer under CDM 2015 and Building Regulations, manage Party Wall matters, and conduct comprehensive building surveys. Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership as Principal Designer under CDM 2015 and BRAE regulations, guiding projects from design to build.
  • Manage Party Wall responsibilities: serve notices, draft awards, and resolve neighbour queries.
  • Conduct detailed building surveys—investigate conditions, identify defects, and prepare client reports.
  • Support feasibility and design work—contribute to layouts, prepare CAD drawings, and assist with planning docs.
  • Deliver polished technical reports packed with clear, practical advice.
 Requirements:
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Architecture, Building Surveying, Architectural Technology, Construction Management, or similar.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015 and current Building Regulations (including BRAE updates).
  • Experience or interest in Party Wall work and building inspections.
  • Familiarity with CAD or design software is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ambition to pursue professional accreditation (RICS, CIOB, CIAT, RIBA) if you're not already chartered.
