Responsibilities:
Cabinet Construction:
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Select appropriate materials based on project requirements and specifications.
- Accurately measure, cut, shape, and assemble cabinet components.
- Construct and install various types of cabinets, including kitchen, bathroom, and custom designs.
- Ensure precise joinery and finishing for durable and aesthetically pleasing products.
Machinery Operation:
- Safely and efficiently operate woodworking machinery, including table saws, jointers, planers, routers, and sanders.
- Maintain and perform routine maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures.
Finishing and Installation:
- Prepare surfaces for finishing, including sanding and filling.
- Apply stains, varnishes, paints, and other finishes to achieve desired results.
- Install finished cabinets and hardware on-site as required.
- Ensure accurate and level installation, paying attention to detail and functionality.
Material Management:
- Estimate material requirements and assist with ordering.
- Maintain accurate inventory of materials and supplies.
- Minimise waste and maximise material utilisation.
Quality Control:
- Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy, ensuring they meet specifications.
- Identify and resolve any defects or imperfections.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Cabinet Maker, preferably in a custom cabinet or furniture manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in all aspects of cabinet making, including joinery, assembly, and finishing.
- Expertise in operating and maintaining woodworking machinery.
- Strong understanding of various wood types, finishes, and hardware.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively.
Education:
- Formal training or certification in cabinet making or woodworking is preferred.
- Relevant experience will also be considered.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a dusty and noisy environment.
