Days: Flexibility on either 6am,7am or 8am start times to suit you
Salary: £45,000 to £48,000 per annum

Are you a proactive Mechanical Maintenance Engineer looking to progress in a dynamic and fast-paced industrial environment?

This is a permanent day shift role with flexibility to provide shift cover (4 on / 4 off) as needed — ideal for engineers experienced in medium to heavy industrial maintenance who want long-term stability, career development, and involvement in high-value engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform hands-on mechanical maintenance across annealing lines and other key production equipment.
  • Lead TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
  • Act as point of contact for annealing operations and contractor coordination.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Monitor and improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime.
  • Manage spare parts and oversee on-site contractors.
  • Mentor and support apprentices, promoting knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in system upgrades, installations, and engineering projects.
  • Promote and ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and risk assessments.

Candidate Requirements:
  • Mechanical Engineering Qualification: NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / BTEC; HNC preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years in a medium or heavy industrial maintenance role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Fluid power systems
  • Welding/fabrication and machine shop practices
  • Confident reading mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Advantageous: Experience with annealing, induction furnaces, casting, or rolling equipment.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Able to work independently and support the team during shift cover (4 on / 4 off) for holidays and absence.
